Lemon juice

Lemons are known for their high acidity which has the ability of killing the acne causing bacteria and making the pimples dry out. Lemon has vitamin C which makes the skin glow. It also has a calming effect on the skin. Squeeze lemon juice on a piece of cotton wool and gently rub it on your face. Do this 3-4 times a week before going to bed. Do not forget to cleanse and moisturize afterwards.

Baking soda

Also known as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda is a great skin exfoliator. It gently opens up clogged skin pores and gets rid of the dead skin. It also regulates the skin’s ph. All these characteristics make it one of the best home remedies for treating acne.

Take two tablespoons of baking powder and mix with one teaspoon of cinnamon, lemon juice and 6 tablespoons of honey. Gently apply it on your face. Rinse with clean water after five minutes and moisturize. This procedure can be done twice a week. You can also make a paste of two teaspoons of baking powder with water instead of using the other ingredients.

Raw potato

Slice a piece of a raw potato and rub it gently all over your face. Rinse after five minutes. Raw potatoes have both healing and anti-inflammatory properties.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is a good skin cleanser and exfoliator. It will absorb all the excess oil from your skin, leaving it soft and supple. Mix 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, one teaspoon of honey and cooked oatmeal. Rub the mixture gently all over your skin. Leave it on for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with clean water. Do this once or twice a week for excellent results.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste is in fact one of the most popular acne home remedies. It easily reduces the swelling and dries out the acne pretty fast. Drastic changes can be noted in a day or two. Apply a small amount of toothpaste on the affected area before going to bed. Sleep with the toothpaste on and rinse it off in the morning.

Tea tree oil

Tea tree oil also a very effective and popular acne remedy. It is good for skin exfoliation and repairing damaged skin. When applied on the skin, it produces cells that fight the acne causing bacteria. Apply it on the affected area 3 times a day daily.

Drink lots of water

Last but not least, do not forget to drink plenty of water. Water is good for the skin. Most importantly it aids in flushing out toxins that cause acne. Make an effort to drink at least 8 glasses a day.
