High fibre diet

In our most natural state, as hunters and gatherers we humans would eat plenty of fiber.  Fruits, berries, nuts, natural barley and many other such foods were the order the day. Our digestion is meant to thrive on a high fiber diet.  All of it is has changed today, much of what we eat is processed, laden with preservatives and absorbed into the system very fast.

Look around, and you will see that we are increasingly becoming nation of unhealthy and obese people.  Children are brought up on a diet of white flour, lard, sugar and salts, definitely not the healthiest foods in the world.

The High Fiber diet is one of the healthiest ways of getting your body back to shape. More that just weight loss, it is a way for your body to build up the digestive system holistically.

In a high fiber diet, you are supposed to eat foods with fiber. The human body does not digest the roughage, yet it helps it make the body much healthier. This fiber is found in some plant based carbohydrates, cereals, fruits, pulses, and vegetables.

In the high fiber diet, the calorie intake is restricted to 1500, with most of it being fiber based.  This swells up in the stomach, which keeps the belly full and makes you feel less hungry.  You do not have to starve yourself to get slim, so you do not get food cravings and then swallow the closest chocolate.  If you eat fiber, you will also have to drink plenty of water a day.

There are other advantages to high fiber diet, much actually outweigh the weight loss factor.  Fiber rich foods are also good sources of antioxidants. Anti-oxidants reduce the free radical formation in the body that cause a range of circularity, pulmonary and other problems.

High fiber also reduces the absorption of “bad” cholesterol and lower blood sugar levels.  Fruits with plenty of Vitamin C should be eaten along with iron rich vegetables. This will help absorb the iron in the foods better, increasing the hemoglobin levels in the body.  The vitamin C also helps in the absorption of calcium, which will strengthen your bones, reducing the chances of osteoporosis, as you get older. Some of the best sources of vegetable-based calcium are tofu, spinach, almonds and beans.

Some of the foods suggested in a high fiber diet are prunes, whole grain pasta, bran,  Brussels sprouts, spinach, and other leafy green vegetables, broccoli, carrots, and more. The high fiber diet is the way that many have found good health and really well shaped bodies.
