There are many essential oils that can help you to relieve pains, sprains and strains, in addition to helping you improve stamina!

Did you know that massage is an important part of athletics both before and after exercises?

There are oils that assist with warming up the muscles before exercising, making you less prone to injuries. There are also oils to help cool down muscles that provide the same type of protection.

Essential oils are very easy to use; add a few drops of the essential oil to a carrier oil such as coconut or grapeseed. The ratio is 1 ounce of essential oil to 30 drops of carrier oil and apply to the muscles by rubbing it in.

Try any of the following essential oils: clove, rose, thyme, fennel, bergamot and eucalyptus as anti-inflammatories.

For pain relief try: rosemary, lavender, sandalwood, clary sage or chamomile.

To release a muscle spasm: add 4 drops Cypress, 2 drops Ginger and 4 drops Marjoram with 4 teaspoons carrier oil of your choice.

To loosen tight muscles: add 4 drops Lavender, 4 drops Rosemary and 2 drops of Ginger with 4 teaspoons carrier oil.

Rheumatic pain: add 2 drops Lavender, 4 drops Ginger, and 4 drops Silver Fir in 4 teaspoons carrier oil.

Increase blood flow to cramping leg muscles: add 2 drops Ginger, 4 drops Black Pepper and 4 drops Cinnamon in 4 teaspoons carrier oil.

Maybe you are looking for stamina.

Some assist with performance by keeping the blood circulation going. Try the following for adding stamina to your routine: juniper, black pepper, lemon, cedar, bergamot, rose and geranium.

Add about 6 drops of the essential oil of your choice to a carrier oil (coconut or grapeseed as noted above). Rub it onto your body about an hour before starting your activity.

Why not make yourself a cold compress?

Add the essential oil to a small bowl of water. Dip a face towel onto the oil. Wring out the excess water. Apply the cold compress to the muscle for pain relief.

In addition to those mentioned above, sweet almond is also a great carrier oil.

The following ailments do well with a cold compress:

Pulled muscle: Add 3 drops of Chamomile and 2 drops Marjoram. Apply via cold compress.
