  3. Low-fat dairy- individuals suffering from gout should choose low-fat dairy products for their diet. Sixteen ounces per day is sufficient for most people.
  4. Complex carbohydrates – eating more whole grains is a great idea. Choose wheat products over white products. Eating more fruits and vegetables is also encouraged.
  5. Avoid alcohol and sugar – Limiting alcohol and sugar consumption is required. Alcohol interferes with the body, not allowing it to clear itself of uric acid. Eating a lot of sugared products is not sound and can interfere with efforts to control gout.
